Gig Night
June 10, 2010 at Session 73 (1st Ave and 73rd St, NYC)Coming your way is an opportunity to give back to your homeland – by attending a concert!
The Association for the Development of Pakistan has organized a fund-raising concert at Session 73 on Thursday, the 10th of June (at 7:30 pm), featuring three exciting new Pakistani artists:
All three musicians, based in the United States, bring a unique flavor to the event, making it an eclectic mix of musical approaches. While Fahad, the veteran, sings traditional Pakistani pop-rock (after all, his roots are in Music Channel Charts!), Umer Piracha generates a signature spiritual sound through improvisation, and Daniyal Noorani has just emerged with a thought provoking single with social commentary that has received wide acclaim.
The proceeds from this concert will go on to fund a variety of ADP projects, and attendees will be directly helping thousands of people in Pakistan – from restoring vision in Mansehra to empowering women in Balochistan. It’s an opportunity to make a powerful difference – and enjoy an evening with acclaimed musicians at the same time!
Buy tickets now for only $25. Tickets are still available for purchase at the door.
About the Artists:
Fahad Ahmad

A New York-based singer/songwriter, Fahad developed a keen interest in art, music, and theatre in an early age. Following early success in the Music Channel Charts, Fahad dabbled in acting and modelling before going to the US for his studies. In 2007, he composed the musical score for the award-winning short film 7.6, which went on to be screened at Cannes Film Festival. Currently, Fahad is completing his first albu with producers Kamijee and Samrat Chakrabarti with lyrics by Ovais Sohail. Fahad’s debut single, Teray Bina (video), receives regular play on MTV Pakistan and AAG.
Umer Piracha

Umer Piracha is a Singer-Songwriter, Composer and Guitarist raised in Multan, Pakistan. His improvisation-heavy music seeks to passionately address contemporary consciousness and spirituality, and through a variety of inspirations bring a sense of ‘the other’ to Pakistan, as he adheres to the intellectual movement of the oneness of humanity wherein differences due to nationalities and religions become completely unimportant in the face of unconditional universal love. Umer lives in Philadelphia and his debut album titled ‘The Depths’ comes out towards the end of 2010. You can see the video for his original single ‘Drowing in Love’ on Youtube.
Daniyal Noorani
Daniyal grew up in Lahore, and then went to college in Wisconsin where he studied Math and Econ. He now works in a biotech company in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His daring single, “Find Heaven,” takes the Taliban and religious extremists head on, and has created quite a buzz online, with several features in the Pakistani blogsphere, including the official DAWN blog. His music video, which you can view on Youtube, has been selected in a number of film festivals, most recently showing at the London Independent Film Festival.
