Amyn,

The law states that any chartibable organization soliciting funds needs to be registered. And so I would say hold-off on the posters if you can for a day or two. We are running at full speed to get us registered in New York. Unfortunately it cannot be a brand new organization, but has to be ADP registering in New York as a foreign (i.e. Non-NY) corporation. This means we need some paperwork from the Mass Secretary of State which is already in process and should be coming very shortly. Once we get that, we can register immediately in NY (for which it would great to get your help) and start collecting funds.

Not a priority, but I was just thinking about increasing site awareness and long-term funding, and wondering if something like this would be of interest to us.

Amyn, there is a topic open on Google Grants in the forums here. I believe Danish was working on this some time ago. I do not know what the current status is and if he is still pursuing this or not.

Any updates on the registration front? Anything I can do to help?
We had a meeting at NYU today. Some of the things being planned are

1) Possible break Iftaar dinner with Islamic Relief on October 28/29

2) NYU's Eid banquet Fundraiser- November 14th

3) Ghazal/ Dinner event: December 2/3 (currently looking into 3-4 sources for a singer!)

4) Come support us at NYU's Fastathon- upcoming Tuesday, Oct 18th, we can begin raising awareness at the event towards earthquake relief and use it as a stepping stone to help promote our upcoming events.

If anyone wants to help with any of this, has any suggestions etc, feel free to contribute!

Hi Amyn,

I am checking in to see where we stand on the NY registration. I hope to have an update to you today. We are being pulled in many directions right now, so let me see if you can also help us with the registration process. Thanks for offering!

Would be great if ADP members could attend this and update the group on what they learn. In particular, any insights around how we should think about the timing and plan for rebuilding will be very helpful since we will need to make decisions on the ADP Redevelopment Fund in the coming months.

The panel discussion will explore the current conditions on the border, analyze how India and Pakistan’s governments are responding to the devastation; examine domestic and international aid agencies’ rehabilitation and reconstruction work; and provide first hand account of how ordinary Pakistanis and civil society organizations are contributing in relief efforts.
