ADP at the UN Social Good Summit

by Anam Zakaria – Director, Programs & Outreach

The UN Social Good Summit- “a three day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions”- was warmly welcomed in Islamabad on 24th September by journalists, development workers, activists and bloggers. The Marriott Hall was bristling with energy as each speaker detailed the role new media is playing in fields like citizen journalism, health, elections, water flow control and education. In Pakistan in particular, schemes like the Benazir Income Support Program, flood rehabilitation and dengue control initiatives are increasingly relying on innovative solutions like smart cards, smart phones and tracking systems for improved social delivery. The 2030NOW summit acted as a driving force for acting now to develop tomorrow.

We at ADP were very excited to attend the event and be a part of a larger movement to develop Pakistan.
